One night
I was wild with
abandon and was
left behind on
cold rocks
abandoned
And every night
since and
every day
from that moment on
I was wild
from
abandonment
Wild I was
and wild since
that moment
tore me apart
limb to limb
and ever since
I was unable
to be wild
with abandon
From abandonment
to abandonment
I tore on
wild from
that moment
and others since
And swore an oath
to my wild heart
to no more
abandon
And from that day
I swore
and ever since
That oath I took
to never
more abandon
I was left
an apparition
of myself
abandoned in
my own
abandonment
Apart and
separate
from
my wild
heart
A flicker,
A flash
And
all was lost,
I glimpsed
myself upon
those rocks
of many years ago.
And the stars shined
overhead with wild abandon.
Time collapsed.
And filled my
wild heart
with abandon
And now I
look upon
those stars
steadfast
and bright
unblinking witnesses
to my past
the dark –
guiding me
back to
wild
abandon
